AMP IV - Speaker Attenuator / AC Voltage Reduction
AMP IV - Speaker Attenuator / AC Voltage Reduction
AMP IV is everything you've ever needed for your amp.
AC LINE VOLTAGE REDUCTION
• Some outlets provide a great deal more than the 120v our equipment is designed for. Most power transformers are around a 1:5 or 1:6 ratio. Meaning every for 1 volt added at the outlet, 6 volts is added to your amplifier. (So an outlet supplying 128v isn't supply 8 extra volts to your amp, its supplying 48 extra volts!)
• Some equipment was made in a time when 110v was the standard, and is designed for such.
• Some amps just run really stinkin' hot.
AMP IV provides safe power to your equipment with surge protection, and AC Voltage reduction (like a Brown Box).
AC reduction controls include BYPASS, -5%, and -10%.
Classy AC voltmeters on the front panel show you what voltage you get from the wall, and what voltage is going to your equipment.
SPEAKER ATTENUATOR
• You want to turn your guitar amp up, trust me. But we live in a quieter world these days. Constantly being asked to "turn down", they don't know they're asking us to sound worse and have worse tone. Theres just no way to turn something down and have it sound better. But you can at very least be able to turn it down without compromising tone.
AMP IV is a 100w+ Attenuator and Loadbox for silent recording. Attenuator includes true bypass, a feature that is painfully needed, and not often provided on attenuators. The attenuator is discrete L Pads made of 100w load resistors, NOT the cheap pre-made LPads you typically find on speaker attenuators. Discrete L-Pads ensure that your amplifier's output transformer is seeing exactly the impedance it was designed for in all situations.
LOADBOX / SILENT RECORDING
AMP IV allows for silent recording of your guitar amplifiers. The LINE OUT on the rear panel sends a line level signal for recording straight into your daw, or get creative and send your entire amp through another amp or FX. You can use the LINE OUT for silent recording, or in conjunction with your speaker cabinets.
SPEAKER SELECTOR
Might as well include the kitchen sink. AMP IV allows for you to select from two separate speaker systems. Or safely mute your speakers all together. This features make my studio work-flow possible. I need one cabinet in the room with me to work out parts on, then I want to switch to a different cabinet in an isolation booth when Im ready to record. The LINE OUT provides another tonal option to mix with the microphones. Or gives me the option to just record my guitar amps directly without speakers or microphones.
